Apprenticeship Program

The Central Florida Mechanical Joint Apprenticeship Program is a four year program for those interested in becoming a Mechanical Journeyperson.

It currently consists of "on the job training" in an Engineering Services role at the Walt Disney World resort in Central Florida and attending classes at Mid-Florida Tech.

During your four years of "on the job training" in an Engineering Services role you will be rotated every year. You will work in a variety of roles to include transportation like buses, monorails, and heavy equipment. You will also work in attractions which could consist of any of the wonderful attractions at Walt Disney World like Mission Space, Rock-in-Roller Coaster, Kilimanjaro Safari or Pirates of the Caribbean.

You would also be required to attend classes. Currently those classes are 1 night a week 4 1/2 hours per night at Mid-Florida Tech and follow the Orange County Public School System calendar. The schooling is paid for but you will not be paid to attend school. You would be responsible for paying for your books that run approximately $150 a year.

The technical training you receive from Mid-Florida Tech will be geared around Diesel Engine Technology. This training is designed to give you the necessary mechanical fundamentals that you can use to provide a life long earning opportunity whether you chose attractions or transportation for your future.

During your four years you would work full time at the Walt Disney world resort and are entitled to receive normal cast member benefits such as health insurance, retirement account contribution, vacation, sick and holiday pay and Walt Disney World theme park admission! You will also receive a basic set of hand tools and a lockable tool box from Walt Disney World. Once you graduate this tool kit will be yours to keep.
