Will I have to pay for schooling? No, the Central Florida Mechanical Training Trust Fund partners with Mid-Florida Tech, The Orange County Public School System and The Florida Department of Education to provide funds for tuition, instructors pay, parking permits, school ID’s and other costs associated with the program. The only cost to the student will be book fee’s which are currently about $150.00 per year. Do I get paid to be an apprentice? Yes, you will be a full time cast member at Walt Disney World where you will receive normal cast member benefits to include health insurance, 401k contributions and vacation and sick pay. However you will not be paid to attend school. What happens when I finish the program? This is a state registered program. After completion you will receive a certificate of completion from the State of Florida, Central Florida Mechanical Joint Apprenticeship Training Committee, Mid-Florida Tech and Walt Disney World. Walt Disney World will place you in an Engineering Services role as a journeyperson based upon the certifications you acquired during your apprenticeship. What tools are required for me to purchase to be a mechanic apprentice? The Walt Disney World Company will provide you with a basic set of tools as well as a lockable tool box for you to use while you are an apprentice. So there is no purchase of tools required to become an apprentice. The tools are the property of Walt Disney World until you graduate at which time they become yours to keep. Do I have to have previous mechanical experience? No, this program is designed to teach you the mechanical trade. We are looking for highly motivated individuals interested in the mechanical trade wanting to be challenged by unique one of a kind equipment. |
